What is Vedic
astrology?
Vedic Astrology refers to
Indian or Hindu astrology, science that originated in ancient
India, Vedic astrology originally comes to us from the Rig Veda,
our ancient scriptures. The Vedas are the pillars of
Hinduism. We also find astrological references abound in the great
oral epics of India, Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagwat Gita. Such
ancient astrological works as the Vedanga Jyotish and the Surya
Siddhanta shed further light on both the astronomy and astrology of
ancient India. Later in history, such oral astrological teachings
were put into written form by various ancient sages and well-known
astrologers at that time, such as Parasara, Varahamihira,
Kalyan Varma, Mantreshwar and many more. Written ancient scriptures
or their masterpieces on Vedic astrology, e.g. Hora Shastra, Brihat
Jataka, Saravali and Phaladeepika are available in today's
date.
Astrology in Indian language
known as "Jyotish", means the light comes from the divine source.
The source of divine light is from various planets of our solar
system.
Astrology is based on the
astronomy, cosmic rays (divine light), planetary movement of
various planets, the position of various planets in the sky. These
things do influence the human life. The effect of various
planets on the human life is very complex things and one can only
understand through the study of our ancient scriptures, the
astrologer can do a study of such situation by making an
astrological chart of the person.
What are the
charts?
In Astrology, the main item is
the chart (means Janma Kundali"). In simple language charts is
known as image or photograph or map of our sky showing the position
or movements of various planets of our solar system, when someone
born on the earth at a particular date, time and place.
Janma Kundali (Natal Chart) is
cast based on an exact moment at an exact place on earth.
Therefore, the moment you were born and place you were born has a
chart, and that is your "birth chart" or "Janma Kundali" or "Natal
Chart". Chart consists of various bhava along with various
planetary positions. The zodiac divided into 12 section, and a part
called sign. These all zodiac sign present in the chart in various
bhava with the position of various planets. So the chart consists
of bhava, zodiac sign and position of various planets.
What are the bhava, planets
and Dasha systems?
In the chart, bhava is known as a house, which represents various
things of human life. e.g. 1st house represents health, nature of
person etc. 2nd house represents Family, money and speech etc., 3rd
house represents brother-sister, short journey etc, 4th house
represents House, vehicle, ornaments etc, 5th house represents
progeny, entertainment, education etc, 6th house represents
disease, debt, enemy etc, 7th house represents life partner,
partnership etc, 8th house represents sex, life span, sex organ
etc, 9th house represents luck, long journey etc, 10th house
represent karma, profession, business etc, 11th house represents
income, elder brother, social connectivity and 12th house
represents loss, moksha etc. These all 12 section influence our
body system and can compare with the human body, each section
represents the 12 section of the body starting from head, neck,
shoulder, chest, stomach, intestine, waist (kidney -liver), sexual
organ, thighs, knee, the lower part of knee and feet.
In Vedic Astrology, a total of
seven planets and two shadow planets considered for analysis of
chart and prediction. 1. The Sun, 2. The Moon, 3. Mars, 4.
Mercury, 5. Jupiter, 6. Venus and 7. Saturn, two shadow planets
Rahu and Ketu.
Let us understand, the key
characteristics of various planets; The Sun: Sun is the king
of our solar system, it represents; soul, father, power, energy,
health. The Moon: Moon is known as the queen of the solar
system, it represents; Mind, Mother, circulating blood in the
body. Mars: Mars represents; Energy, Sibling
etc. Mercury: Mercury represents; Memory, intelligence, skin,
speech etc. Jupiter: Jupiter represents; Knowledge, money,
husband, fat, kindness, judge, liver, health etc. Venus: Venus
represents; sexual organ, wife, entertainment, artist
etc. Saturn: Saturn represents; Labour, servant, negativeness
etc.
Rahu and Ketu considered as
shadow planets; In which Rahu represents disinterest and Ketu
represent interest. This disinterest and interest depend upon
the availability of Rahu and Ketu in bhava. e.g. If Rahu placed in
the 5th bhava of the chart - it indicates that person has
disinterest regarding study/child/share market etc. If Ketu placed
in the 5th bhava of the chart - indicates that a person is more
interested in study/child/ share market. So these two shadow
planets represent the disinterest and interest.
What are the Dasha
systems?
Using the dasha system(vimshottari & ashottari) and transit of
planets, the astrologer can predict about the upcoming time of our
life. Astrology can help and provide guidance in the journey of our
life. Astrology can only help us when doing "Karma" in the right
direction. e.g. If astrologer predicts for native that native will
definitely go abroad within coming period, but if native will not
act towards purchasing of the ticket (karma should be done) than
prediction will not make any sense. So native has to try and has to
karma with astrological guidance.
